V Sehwag
First class    123 at 30.75 in 4 innings with high scores: 81
Limited Overs  164 at 27.33 in 6 innings with a high scores: 56, 54

Yuvraj Singh
First Class     61 at 30.50 in 2 innings.
Limited Overs   93 at 31.00 in 4 innings (1 no).

R Dravid
Limited Overs   25 at 25.00 in 1 inning.

Rather disappointing so far ...

Also, CricInfo does not seem to have scorecards or description of
Sehwag's 81. Anyone has any links to that?

Now it's 128 at  25.60 after he got out in the 2nd inning of the
current match.

The man has a full schedule going berserk, setting himself
on fire, etc. You want him to bat too? Start thinking of additions
to your disappointments list.

I think you have Yuvraj's FC and limited overs stats mixed up there. He's
made 93 FC runs so far, with a highest of 56 in the first knock against
Durham.

Add M Kaif
First Class    13  at 13.00 in 1 innings :-)

But not particularly surprising. It is early in the season and the
ball moves around - and neither Sehwag nor Yuvraj are likely to make
much hay in those conditions (few Indian batsmen are - probably
Sachin and Dravid if any - but they arent playing Counties this season).

The 2 kids are averaging 30 each - I dont think its all that suprising,
but, of course, not particularly pleasing either. Kaif probably wont do
all that much better right away either. These are all better ODI-type
players than fc-type players at the moment IMHO.

Sadiq [ they probably are all much cheaper than Dravid/Gangs/SRT anyway] Yusuf

ESPNSTARSPORTS ' prog sportsline showed glimpses of Dravid 25. 3 awesome
strokes off AKram for fours. A Beautiful cover drive and then a
magnificient straight drive. Oozed style and class!

Then they showed his interview. Looks fairly relaxed, spoke why he chose
scotland as he does not need to play too many matches etc.

Given the weather so far this season, you'd have expected scores to be
on the low side. But in fact there have been a surprising number of
substantial scores (a couple of individual double hundreds in the
current round of matches, for instance, by Hussey and Pieterson).

Not technically county cricket but just got a duck vs Pakistan so I
guess that's 25 at 12.50 in 2 innings.

A first-baller, according to Ananova.

Maybe too much honeymooning in the Scottish countryside
is taking a toll on his cricket!

Why not technically county cricket?

Scotland are competing on exactly the same basis as the other counties
in division 2 of the NCL.

Cheers,

Yep. Also a brute of a ball apparently - Shabbir Ahmed (who is pretty
fast, or at least used to be pretty fast and good when he was an obvious
chucker :-)... I still have vivid memories of watching his debut from
behind the bowlers arm at Toronto against West Indies, where this
6'5" guy comes roaring in and bowls Wide, 4 Wides, Clean Bowled, 4 Wides,
Wide, Clean Bowled.. and so on :-) And then you watched him from side-on
(after getting a hot-dog, and stopping at around midwicket to watch
him), and it was totally obvious chucking :-)

... anyway... apparently that very same Shabbir Ahmed bowled a shortish
quickish delivery outside off first-up at Dravid that cut back in
sharply, and had him inside-edging it, and Latif picked up a terrific
catch down leg-side. Or so a couple reports claimed, at any rate :-)

Sadiq { Kaif now down to 19 in 2 innings BTW, 9.50 average ] Yusuf

Based on what I saw at Dambulla, Shabbir Ahmed is no longer especially fast.
He now bowls in a much more controlled way: the odd sharp-ish delivery but
mostly mid-130s.  Gets awkward bounce on enough occasions to suggest he
might still be useful as international level.

Not to mention the effect his presence has had on the Indian population in
Leicester.

In any case, showing Sehwag's batting stats presents only half of the
picture.  To understand the full extent of his contribution one must also
review his bowling efforts:

First class: 9.2-1-37-0
NCL: 3-0-23-1
C&G: has not bowled

I predict a triumphant season for Sehwag in the Twenty Something Cup.

Congrats. One of the rare posts in which you have tried
writing on-topic and succeeded.
