I do not believe this.
When's the real squad being named?

I see the Australian Cricket Board is cutting costs and naming an
unknown to be 12th man. A "4" man pace attack backed up by Watson is ok

I reckon with that batting linup we can get 200 or even 250 in the first
innings and really puts the Poms under pressure

btw:   I see there is a spinner in the 3rd Grade Bankstown side who took
a wicket recently so he must be next on the list for Test duties

Can't see Beer playing in Perth. Smith HAS to play as the sixth
batsman / all-rounder, and there is no way Australia will play 1.5
spinners in Perth. My money is on Beer being the 12th man.

There's no way in hell they'd actually let Beer play, so one can only
assume he's a red herring.

playing XI will be;

Quote:
> Watson
> Hughes
> Ponting (c)
> Clarke
> Hussey
> Haddin (wk)
> Smith
> Johnson
> Harris
> Siddle
> Hilfenhaus

So, Johnson back in! And Smith replaces North.
A genuine 4 man pace attack, plus Watson and Smith.

Batting looks a little weak, esp if Hughes hasn't sorted his stuff
out.
Bowling looks a lot better, though.

If they wanted a SLA option, why on earth don't they give O'Keefe a
go? If they don't really plan on attacking the right-handers (esp KP)
with SLA then why not go back to Hauritz?

That's what I think too. Though if Smith is really inked in to be the
replacement for North he might as well bat at 6.

It couldn't really look much worse, could it? The only way for the
bowling unit to go is up.

On a bright note for the Oz selectors celebrating Hughes' duck,
Michael Hill (LHB, age 22) playing in his 8th first class game has
scored his maiden first class ton. He is currently 104* for Victoria
against the England backup attack of Tremlett, Shahzad, Bresnan,
Panesar and Collingwood. There's still time for the lad to catch a
plane to Perth and Hughes to be protected from the short sharp stuff
served up on a *** line round the wicket.

attack? left arm orthodox? possibly the most
impotent style of bowling in the game.. might
as well attack with wides....

So, Johnson and Hilfenhaus have done something special since being dropped
after Brisbane?

No, didn't think so.

To be fair, Bollinger proved that he was worse than Hilfenhaus.

However, it's good to see Mitchell Harmison back in the side,
presumably as comedy relief.

Cheers,
