I blame my poor showing on my inability to focus properly on the series
so far.  I have been at the hospital watching my wife give birth to our
first child.  Closely followed by the second.

I won't mind getting up in the early hours of the morning to tend to
the bairns so much, as long as I've got better fare to watch than was
on offer on Day 1, of Test 1.

Is it too early to tell whether they bat right- or left-handed and
whether they bowl fast, finger, or wrist spin?

Many congratulations.

Cheers,

Ta, Mike.  It's a little early to say, it was touching to see this
blubbering form, unable to control bodily functions, entirely reliant
on my wife for sustenance and support.  I'm a lot better now, though.

It's nice to have a dream.

At least you were spared the midnight motorway dash to make sure you
were in the right county for the birth. We'll take anyone at Yorkshire
nowadays.

Cheers,

Mike

Well done, that man.

And your timing's not so bad, so long as you had access to a radio in the
delivery suite.  I had to listen to Greg Rusedski losing at the Australian
Open whilst my other half was contemplating whether to part company with our
first-born.

Day 2 was more promising, but the last session was a disaster. Surely
it'll get better from here.

Thanks, John.  And everyone else for their good wishes.

We're just warming up.  Admittedly, I'd rather we were warming up
faster than Pluto on a sunny morning, but there you go.
