No Craig White! Blasphemy! this is a horrendous and most horrable
injustice to the most incompetent cricketer on this earth.
The man is an embarassment to international cricketer and if
we never see him again it would still leave us miserable
at having had to put up with so much of him.

Craig White should not only be in the world's worst XI,
he is the world's worst XI in one package!

Haven't at least a couple of these already been dropped from their
respective Test sides? And why Robert Croft? Seems to have bowled rather
tidily since being capped last Summer.

Mark Taylor would be a strong contender for captain of any current World Test XI
(best).  Under his captaincy, Australia are currently the best Test XI today (IMO).
Although he is going thru. a prolonged bad patch with the bat, BUT he has amassed
over 5700 test runs at an average of over 40.(How many players have made over 5700
runs in tests?)  He is the Best Captain around today.

De Silva is one of the Best ODI players around today.  Tests are another matter.
Some example,  WC SF against India, He came in with SL at 1/2 after 1st over, and
played a scintillating innings (66 of 48 balls).  In WC FInal, he made 107 off 123
balls to win the Trophy for Lanka.  Another scintillating knock, and he was MOM.  He
made some good knocks in Kenya, and in the Singer World Series (especially in the
final).  He is a strong candidate for the BEST ODI XI.  (9 ODI centuries).

Jayasuriya definitely does not belong in Worlds Worst XI of ODIs.  His average is not
that good, but it is not that bad either.  When he gets going, LOOK OUT.  Has
radically changed the way ODIs are played, and was a key reason why SL won the World
CUp.

Doesn't Taylor average 40+ in tests?
Hick averages 36.10 in tests and approx 39 in ODI's
Cork has a bowling ave of 30.9 and batting of 20
Crofts bowling ave is 23.5
De Silva has 7 ODI hundreds and 39 50s

Sorry this lot are no where near the worlds worst test / ODI players.
Taylor and Hick may make it on current form but in that case so might
Tendulkar.

Ziad Alam's team:

Mark Taylor (capt)
Navjot Sidhu
Sanath Jayasuria
Arvinda De Silva
Graeme Hick
Asif Mujtaba
Junior Murray (wkt)
Dipak Patel
A Kuruvilla
Domonic Cork
Robert Croft

12th Inzamam-Ul-Haq

I do not agree with the some of the above selection for the following
reasons:

1) Kuruvilla :He has played only one test and even in that one test he
has impressed Holding & co and hence should be given more chances to
prove himself before getting into the above team .

2) Cork : He is a classy bowler, but because of excessive appealing
shifts attention away from his bowling and that probably led to you
including him in the above team.

3) Croft : He is a good offspinner and probably second only to Saqlain
and he is not a bad bat too

4) Jayasuria : Any man who hit a century in as many balls as he did
should not be taken lightly.

Mark Taylor????  Perhaps the best tactical skipper Australia has ever had
Taylor has proven he can bat (does 219 against the old enemy in England ring a
bell?)

I'd be more inclined to put someone like Andrew Hudson (admittedly I'm going
on what little I've seen of him and that isn't a lot) in the side.

Flame away if you must.

People who know absolutely nothing about the game of cricket should not
write to these pages. How ridiculoous is it to name two celebrated sri
lankan cricketers in the worst team list. Sanath and Aravinda were
lauded by peers and other great players for their magnificent
performances at the world cup.

Fools may argue that they only produced at the world cup but if you have
followed cricket enough you will know that this is not true.

Besides We all know who ended Manoj Prabhakar's Career, and who smashed
the aussies to all ends of the park at the world cup final.

Part of a World's worst XI

I reckon this is a bit harsh to all three - particularly Corky!  I know he had a mediocre tour, but he is always appealing ;-)

A very distant bell. Nothing much jars the memory since.

163 on debut at Barbados still rings a bell with me, even if I have been
critical of the guy of late.

Somehow I would rate 163 in WI's above the 219 against the pie throwers.
