Callaway Pro X-12's

Post by Frank Stefane » Sun, 21 Feb 1999 04:00:00

Hi,

Golfweek mentions the new Callaway Pro X-12's. How are they different from
the regular X-12's?

In general, what do guys who have tried either the regular of Pro X-12's
think of them??

Thanks.

Callaway introduced the new Pro X-12's at the PGA Show in Orlando earlier
this month, and a few pro shops have seen the literature on 'em.  I haven't
yet heard of them being available yet.

The differences are these:  thinner top line, thinner sole and NO OFFSET.
And the verticle line on the face (perpendicular to the scoring lines) are
not there on the Pro X-12's, either.  When you stand over 'em, they look
like a traditional blade.

I'm sure they have the same "bore-thru hosel," a Callaway trademark, but I
haven't heard any reports on whether the perimeter weighting has been
redistributed in any way.  I suspect it must have been, since thinning the
blade would remove some weight.

The Pro's are not offset.

I always wondered if blades were what the pros played with, why Callaway
didn't make a set?
Guess it just took them awile to figure it out.

Actually, Callaway used to make the "Bobby Jones" blades with bore-through
hosels in the early '90s.  And the old S2H2s were, by today's standards,
practically blades.  Great clubs they were.

Everything Randy said is correct.  I believe the Rifle shaft is the
stock shaft for the set, not the Memphis 10.
