Golfsmith Customer Service or lack thereof.

Post by Gaine » Fri, 11 Jul 2003 10:01:19

I've lost my love for GS customer service.  I ordered a Zebra RH putter,
shaft and grip.  I got a Zebra LH putter.  I called, had a long discussion
about the fact that even though it said RH is was indeed LH.  I sent back
the LH and they said they were shipping the RH.  Two days later I got
another RH shaft - at no charge, to their credit, but I now own two RH
shafts and zero putter heads.  I call Golfsmith CS.  Sherry say she'll
overnight a RH putter head so I would have it today.  When it didn't arrive
today, I called GS CS.  Laurie said my putter head is still there and they
have it scheduled to go out on two-day air shipment, so I should have it
Friday.  Yeah, right!  I don't think the word "customer service" means what
it once did.  I'm pretty much done with Golfsmith for awhile.

To be fair, this sounds like good service:  Responsive, quick, flexible.
However, it is marred by an inability to execute.

I'd keep 'em in mind for future business - at least half of them are trying,
while the other half are making mistakes.

Not to mention the fact the got to speak to an actual human
being. Lots of companies seem to have some sort of automated phone
system/BORG cube taking care of "service."

Right.........Customer service, like government service, selective service,
and the Internal Revenue Service.  My uncle useed used to borrow his
neighbors bull to service his cows.  Now you know what service means.

Hmmmm.  Sounds like they tried at least.  Can't you get them to just
ship you a few free heads or something.  They've just opened a few new
stores, I think they've got the extra $$$.

I remember buying a 24-pack of Coke once, and one can was completely
empty.  We called Coke just for the heck of it, the woman on the other
end took our vitals, and within a day a Coke truck pulls up and drops
off several cases of the stuff.  I think it depends a lot on the
actual person handling your problem, small or big.

They also have the finger-tip-callous generator phone system to get to a
breathing human.
