Hippo 60* Wedge

Hippo 60* Wedge

Several months ago Brent sold me a set of clubs with a hippo 60* Wedge.  He
indicated that he used this as his sand wedge and there was something unique
about the wedge since normally 60* is a lob wedge.

What is it that makes this club usable as a sand wedge?

thanks, Ken

The Hippo wedges that I had had a very low bounce.  I think even the sand
wedge only had about 10* of bounce.  The 60* lob wedge, I believe, only has
3* of bounce.  My understanding is that low bounce clubs do not make good
sand wedges, but I just read in a Golf Digest that pros now a days are using
the lob wedge for sand and set it up differently than you would a
traditional sand wedge.  I haven't practiced sand shots this way yet.

The Hippo wedges I had were the gun metal wedges and they were pretty good
wedges.

I have the Hippo Gunmetal 64 degrees and use it out of the sand all the time
when I'm in a bunker which is next to or close to the pin.  Each to his own.
