Seeking advice on courses in Detroit area

Hello all,
I am thinking that I may come to Detroit in August for a couple of
days and I was looking for some suggestions as to what the best public
courses (regardless of price) are within a one hour drive of Detroit.
There are so many courses in Michigan it would be just about impossible
to do any research without losing my mind. I would probably get to play
only twice so are there a couple of "must plays"? Thanks Mark

Went to Ann Arbor a couple of years ago, here are a few good ones we played:

Fox Hills was probably the nicest, Eaglecrest a close second. The links at
Whitmore lake was two loops with lots of beer, but I do remember they have a
par five where you tee off from a raft in a marsh.

rained out when I was there, but Stonebridge wsa receommended by the locals

Enjoy your trip.
