Info / Experience with Rocket shafts ? (missed the thread)

Post by Brian Mill » Thu, 15 Feb 1996 04:00:00

I would appreciate any info based on experience with the Rocket shaft
from True Temper. I am thinking of trying it in my fairway woods. I
don't feel the need for graphite in my 5 or 7, but I like the idea
behind the Rocket. Is it worth the extra bucks?

Thanks

I think the previous thread may have turned you off of the Rocket. The
"talk" was that the rocket was simply a market-driven product of
questionable merit. HOWEVER, my actual experience with the shaft has been
quite good, it is quite stiff though, the DSFI calculations yield a swing
speed recommendation of 104mph and 108mph for the R & S Wood flexes

37.5" and D2 SW). The Rocket can be used to create over-length clubs at 44"
Driver and 38" 5 iron length to close to standard swing weights. People
seem to really like the "weight distribution" but they could be imagining
things, the balance point of the club seems to be the same, in any case the
reviews have been good, and I have found that it does have an unusual feel
but I haven't had time to analyze it yet.
