steel vs graphite shafts

Hi all;
I've been lurking for some time now and figure it's time to jump in.
I have a question on graphite vs steel.
What are the advantages or disadvantages of one over the other? I just
switched from a set of Arnold Palmer graphite shaft irons to a set of
Ram Fx Lasers in steel shaft. The rams feel more solid and seem more
accurate than the graphite shafted irons. I have only played one round
with them and been to the range twice. I did however break 100, shot a
96  for the first time last sunday. That is an accomplishment since i
was shooting in the high 120s in May. Of course i have practiced and
worked my but off all summer. I just wonder if the steel shafted irons
are that much better than the graphites?
They sure do feel great and I am gonn stay with them till I can afford a
new set irons later next year I hope.
thanks

When I talk to customers about selecting a golf club and they tell me they are
interested in graphite.  I ask them why they are interested in graphite ?  If
they want something that is lighter and will help with their swing speed or
they want something that dampens vibration on off center hits, choose graphite.
Where money is concerned and swing speed is not a problem, choose steel.  Go
with a good quality graphite shaft in the driver where distance is more of a
concern.
