I'm one of those people who prefer the feel of persimmon over metal, and
recently I felt like experimenting with a graphite shafted wood. I was
planning on possibly buying one of the Powerbilt Citation heads from
Golfworks. Today I went into a sports store and found a garbage can
full of 5 dollar clubs one of which just so happened to be an old
persimmon Powerbilt driver. So, being the do-it-yourselfer that I am, I
got this desire to buy that club and refinsh it to its original glory.
The wood itself is not in real bad shape. A little stripping and
sanding should bring it back to life. I am not sure about the hosel
because the *** looks funny as if it has some kind of black
tar-like substance on it. Can anybody talk about their experiences with
this sort of work. I am new to building wood woods so anything down to
the *** itself would be useful. Also, I am especially interested
in experiences with replacing inserts.
Any help would be appreciated,
