Refinishing Woods

Refinishing Woods

Can woods be repainted?  My woods are loosing the paint or clear coat
(whatever you call it) and the metal reflects the sun on occasion.  This is
my original set of woods (1,3&5).  They are clones but I like them.  I need
to get them re-griped but I was wondering if the shop can refinish the heads
as well.  What is this called?  Refinishing the heads?  Will I be without my
clubs very long?  Typically how much?

check with golfsmith, they do refinishing.  Call them up, i don't know the
number but
you can get it at www.golfsmith.com.  Or at least check them to get a price
and then
check around your proshops in your area to compare.

Did you try any of the local club makers? Refinishing is almost a lost art
so you might have to go the Golfsmith way.

Refinishing Woods

Mybe I am just cheap, but I would try refinishing them myself, using a high
quality automotive body shop paint.  It should be durable for that use, and not
that hard.  Plus the clubs would not be gone for any extendied period of time.
And if you don't like the results, you could always have it done again.  (You
could maybe find an older metal wood at goodwill store for a couple of bucks
and practice first). Good Luck!
