Just starting to hotten up.

Just starting to hotten up.

RSGers,

After ages playing off 22 and regularly shooting over this ***handicap
I decided enough was enough and spent a week trying to fix it up.
Surprisingly things got better?

Sunday - 91 (69 net)
Monday - 92 (47, 45) (38 points) (included 41 putts)
Tuesday - 80 (after 16 holes)
Wednesday - 87 (44, 43) (67 net)
Thursday - 88 (47, 41) (+4 )

And the big one on Saturday, when the greens were playing difficult
because they had corred (sp?) and sanded the greens for the summer.

Par 72 (35, 37).  85 (45, 40) (45 points)

1st: 206m par 3 (5) - Hooked a 3w through the green, had to chip it
twice to get on.
2nd: 377m par 4 (5) - Pulled a 7i left, chipped and made 5.
3rd: 315m par 4 (5) - Poor chip on resulted in a 5.
4th: 330m par 4 (5) - Pushed the drive into the trees, req'd chip out.
5th: 360m par 4 (7) - Lost concentration during backswing resulted in
one of the worst played holes I've seen in a while.
6th: 162m par 3 (3) - Chipped it close and made par.
7th: 460m par 5 (6) - Into a strong wind tried going for distance and
pushed into the trees, req'd chip out.
8th: 366m par 4 (4) - Tried going for distance off the tee with the
wind  at the back, hooked it into the trees, but pulled off a great hero
shot.  Hit a 3/4 shot using a 3 wood that hooked out underneath LOW
lying branches and ended up greenside.
9th: 320m par 4 (4) - Spooled a great drive by hitting my pitch a little
fat.

Outward 9 of 45 (+10)
---------------------------
10th: 335m par 4 (4) - Great pitch in resulted in a poor birdie putt
attempt.
11th: 468m par 5 (5) - On in 3, made 2 putts.
12th: 365m par 4 (4) - Chipped and putted for a 4.
13th: 290m par 4 (4) - Birdie putt lipped out.
14th: 135m par 3 (3) - Birdie putt sat on front edge.
15th: 445m par 5 (7) - Going for distance with the wind at my back,
hooked it a "little", but got a SAVAGE bounce that ended up being OOB
buy about 1 foot.  Pared my second ball.
16th: 480m par 5 (5) - On in three and two putted.
17th: 100m par 3 (4) - Careless 3 putt.
18th: 320m par 4 (4) - Chipped and putted for par.

Inward 9 of 40 (+3)
---------------------------

For someone who was struggling to keep it under 100 not too long ago, I
am now aiming to shoot an 80.  I feel that it isn't out of my reach
since I played so poorly for the first 5 holes, not to mention the two
careless shots that easily prevented me from parring the back nine.  If
I can learn how to start well I feel that it won't be long before I get
down to single figures.  After all the handicapper just slashed down me
from 22 to 17 in one hit.  I expect to drop another 2 in the next
fortnight as well.

Seeya RSGers,

Hodgy.
