Sabatini--some pre-match thoughts

Sabatini--some pre-match thoughts

Although Sabatini had two disconcerting losses recently, she
doesn't appear at all shaken. In fact, she keeps playing and
getting better results. Boy, is she TOUGH!

I *can* understand her wanting to play in Florida, since she has
done wonderfully well in that sunny and southern state, and even
having an incredible record against Graf there. (She did
especially well against her during Steffi's two-year burnout.)
Furthermore, I'd go so far as to say that she probably has a
better record in Florida than anyone, outside of Graf and Chris
Evert. She must be pretty close to ten titles in that state
alone.

As for todays match with Martinez, I'm kinda favoring Gaby due to
her mental edge over the 'Barcelona Cat'. True, the Spaniard is a
little more talented, with greater footspeed, and has a bigger
game, but on clay (even though it's Conchita's favorite color,
Wimbledon green :) ) I have go with Gaby because clay is a great
equalizer; plus, I rate Sabatini as the best defensive player out
there right now. The best chance Conchita has is if she is very
patient and waits for her opportunities where she can be
aggressive. It should be interesting what Carlos Kirmyer (sp?) has
her doing in this match.

If she is, she sure didn't show it today.

Maybe the coaching situation is upsetting to her.
