Beat Juan Monaco just in straights, bagel in 3rd set. Love watching
Tsonga on clay... mixing up play nicely and trying to construct points
instead of his normal on-off ballbashing. Yet that willingness and
ability to pull the trigger is still there, just chooses his spots more
wisely.
His clay return has improved a lot! ...Consistently deep & high. His
sliding is ok too. Still goes maybe a bit too much for his first serves.

France-Argentina 2-2. The final match I guess is between Simon & Berlocq
the Warlocq.

Did Isner go too much for his first serve when he took Nads to 5 at RG? Or
Soderling go too much for his first serve when he slayed the dragon? In both
cases, I thought they went for their first serves an appropriate amount: all
of them, full whack! :)

It's questionable whether it pays off in the long run...

You open up opportunities for your opponent with missing it. And other
than that one time I don't recall S?derling having great success on clay
against Rafa... 6-0, 61 at Rome etc...

Of course for Isner it's crucial. But his 2nd serve is actually tailor
made for bounce on clay.

Now of course you're going to list all the big serving RG champions...
