The CHEATER wins.

We all know the routine by now.

Since you keep calling him a cheat all the time,
I sat down with a stopwatch to time Rafa between
points. I did that only for two games with Rafa up
    64 41 v JCF.
I was shocked to find that Rafa exceeded the
allowed time of 20 seconds between points
EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! The minimum was 20.8
and the maximum was 27 secs. And he wasn't
    called even once.
This is utterly crazy. The refs seem to be letting
Rafa get away with delaying almost knowingly
and not even warning him, forget penalizing.
I am reminded of how the NBA refs don't risk
calling walking/ charging fouls on marquee
    players esp in tight matches.
So I suppose you can call him a cheat but the
fault lies squarely with the refs who don't call him.

Thats mild for Rafa...try timing him in a tense match when he's up against
it....

I agree, that the responsibility for stamping this kind of thing out lies
sqaurely with the umpires. Sure the opposing player could call them on it
and omplain to the umpire....but why should they? They would risk looking
like a miser and potentially create bad *** between players.

What irks me even more, however, is when guys like Rafa/Djoke/Del P stall on
the *other* guys serve. The former is very wrong, the latter just bang out
of order.

what irks me more is when Fed isn't fined or defaulted for swearing in
a Wimbledon final, live on TV.

If Nadal is flouting the rule on each and every serve, as ahonkan
said, then the equivalent would be Federer screaming "***!" at the
stands every serve. I'd love to see that. Funny!

Its not just Rafa.
I have a video of the Maria\Maria 1st round match at the Aussie...the
time they spend is amazing. (Both Maria's)

But I do agree, the ref's are ultimately to blame.
Either enforce the rule or discard it. Making a mockery of it does not
help the sport.

Djokovic, Del Potro and Hantuchova are the other offenders.

++ It is funny though to watch a set of the Nadal-Fed W 2008 final and
then put on a set of Fed-Roddick in 2009 and it is AMAZING how much
faster the games 'appear' to be going not just from a style of play
stand point BUT because both Fed and A-Rod get the ball and fire it
off pronto... all this inbetween delay is annoying... why have a time
rule indeed... or as Mac said, if so many are breaking the rule and
the chair umps aren't going to call it as it stands, make it LONGER by
10 seconds... but call the rules... enforce the rules...
