If Sampras gets an Emmy, then Graf wins an Oscar

I agree with people about Sampras getting an Emmy, but to be
fair--Graf should win an Oscar!  At the start of the US Open, I was
pleasantly surprised to see that Steffi hadn't claimed a "new" injury,
like she does before every grand slam.  But just when I thoughtshe
wasn't going to gripe about something, she does.  First of all she
comes out against Hingis with her knee bandaged up.  Then DOWN 5-3,
she calls for the trainer, causing people to recognize that the
"injury" is there.  She asks the trainer to even stay on court!  Then
when she gets out of the whole she was in, you never hear anything
about the knee again.  Obvoiusly, it was just an excuse iIF she needed
it.  While I admire Graf for all she has accomplished, this is not
being a true champion.  Wonder what her fraud will be for the final.

Brian! This is shocking! Just what are you accusing Graf of, MAKING UP
INJURIES? Why, I won't hear of it! Every excuse, err, injury she has ever
claimed has been 100% real, from having her period and being allergic to
the entire city of Paris, to that knee problem she was having today (and
which will no doubt flare up again tomorrow in the final). Should she win,
it will be a fantastic triumph of mind over body, willing herself to yet
another title. And if she loses, hey, it was the knee.

She asked the trainer to stay on the court because the bandage on her leg
wasn't applied correctly (they need adjustment somtimes!) and there wasn't
enough time during the changeover to make sure it was fitted correctly.
You sound like Martina.

Cute. I don't recall Steffi, every making an excuse in public by saying
she lost because of injury---not that she has ever lost. The media are
the ones making up excuses---excuses she'll never need.
Don't blame her for the stupid media.
Being a Monica fan you of course
try to smear Steffi in any way you can---just because some Steffi fans
are idiots doesn't mean you have to perpetuate this behaviour. Judging from
some of your posts, you seem to exhibit signs of intelligent life and
being in mathematics certainly warrants some respect. BTW, what is
your specialty?

Dear Chad,

If you had the faintest idea what Steffi's life is about and why she's playing
tennis, you would know that your remarks are just too silly for words. But
then again, you probably don't know...

Well, I can assure you that she HAS lost before. :) And excuses that come
to mind are just what I mentioned--having her period, being allergic to
all the flowers in Paris in the Spring, among others.

Oh, I would never place the blame of all the media on the shoulders of
just one person. That load would be too much to bear.

It's not a question fo trying to smear her. By this time it is obvious
that she has a M.O. as follows:
1) Before a big tournament, make public an injury (eg, knee before this USO).
2) When pressed in a match, call for the trainer to treat the injury (If
matches go ok, step 2 can be skipped) (eg, match against Hingis).
3) If she wins, talk about how much she had to overcome to get there.

It's happened time and time again. Finally the media noticed it at
Wimbledon this year, most notably Frank DeFord.

Yeah---and Martina's right!  Isn't it funny hoe before EVERY grand
slam Steffi has an injury, and at the last one, Wimbledon, someone
actually caught on.  So for the next slam (US Open) she doesn't have
one at the beginning.  Isn't it ironic?

Yes, Graf is a funny 'ho' before every Slam, and during them too.

Oh-- you meant "funny how..."-- my mistake.

I don't think any of these professional athletes a acting!  It is common
knowledge that Steffi has had an injury since early this year.
Sampras has always had stomach problems in the past.  If he was a looser
them I might agree but he is a winner.  Give the guy some credit.  In the
post game interview he said he was in pain.  Is he lying.  I think not.

This is so incredibly dumb.  Seles has had some injury in every tournament
since she came back.  Is she inventing injuries as preemptive excuses for
losing then?

Well said, but I am afraid you're just banging your head on a wall here.
You better get used to his jingoistic posts -- he's rather a regular at
these hate filled "pro-Seles anti-everyone else particularly Graf" type crap.
Better still put him and his like (one Vasu Kasibhotla, for example) in your
Kill file, as I have. They post such garbage half the time and spend the
other half scratching each other's back and congratulating each other on
their wonderful work. Some people just don't have a life.

So, by your line of reasoning she should simply deny everything. Simply
say that everything is perfect, especially after being harassed constantly
by the press?
Don't misunderstand, I would prefer she not say anything myself, since
(perhaps people other than herself are the ones responsible for ``making public''
as you put it, injuries) it gives detractors like yourself to
smear, yes *smear* her with innuendo. You may say you're not, but that is indeed what you're
doing.

ps. You must be a big fan of Sampras ;)

Yep. If she's going to play, there's no reason to whine about injuries. If
she's not going to play, state the nature of the injury, give basic
details (recovery time, etc), and be done with it. Don't milk it for all
it's worth.

No way! Who's making these things public, if NOT Graf? Are reporters
paying off her doctors for information? It's either her, or someone in her
camp that releases these things to the press; she can either control what
this person says or get rid of whoever it is.

I am not smearing her with innuendo by saying she milks (most likely fake)
injuries. First, there's no innuendo involved, I'm flat out saying it.
Second, it's not smearing when it happens so often. If Graf has all the
injuries she claims to then she is the least healthy person ever to play
tennis, and I find that hard to believe.

Ive heard you say before that Graf was faking her injury when she stayed
out of the AO this year. The same thing could be said about Monica
faking her shoulder injury and milking that but I wouldnt say that.
Unlike you I dont have to demean Monica or Steffi to make the other look
good. Graf could never do anything that would satisfy you. You are just
way to pro-Seles and anti-Graf. I just hope you dont go to any Graf
match with a knife in your pocket.
