Sampras d Agassi 6-3 6-4 5-7 6-4

Pete played great!  For two sets.  After that he was mortal again.  I
felt a little bad for Agassi the other day, because he had to get past
Hewitt, but then Pete had tough draws the last two years.  He gets a
break this year and beats a somewhat fatigued Agassi in the final.

Congrats to both for getting there and playing a good final.

Though I did keep thinking that if it went to a fifth set, Agassi was going
to take it. Sampras was starting to look exhausted especially in that
service game at 1-2 in the fourth.

But he overcame that to win... That's the fact!! No "if" involved.

Oh, I wasn't taking anything away from Sampras. I was just responding to
Fagan's remark that Agassi was somewhat fatigued in the final.

Yes, but remember the match against Corretja. Sampras looked
exhausted, except when he *had to* win a point. Agassi was
the one who tired out in that next-to-last game of the
fourth set, I thought.

Agassi has *never* beaten Pete at the US or Wimbledon - fatigue or not.....

Agassi's problem was Sampras was hitting so deep he really couldn't play his
game........

That means Pete was better........ ; )

yeah I noticed that, also Agassi wasn't moving in at all to volley, I saw him
several times backing away from the net, bad idea.
