Fantasy team competition - double handed backhand vs single handed backhand

Post by Raj » Fri, 24 Sep 2004 20:47:44

Restricting to men from the last 30 years.

Red Team

1. McEnroe
2. Lendl
3. Becker
4. Edberg
5. Sampras

Blue Team

1. Connors
2. Borg
3. Wilander
4. Courier
5. Agassi

Each player will play against the 5 players in the other group. The
team which has the most wins will win the competition.

Which team is gonna win if competition is on all the 5 surfaces?

1. ***
2. Cement
3. Indoor Carpet
4. Red Clay
5. Grass

My guess is

1. *** - Blue Team
2. Cement - Red Team
3. Indoor Carpet - Red Team
4. Red Clay - Blue Team
5. Grass - Red Team

Red Team being *** on more surfaces (3) will win the tie.

Reds would romp in every surface except the non-tennis one (clay)....

Replace Becker or Edberg with Federer, and I would agree.

With Federer they'd probably win on clay too.

Actually I feel Agassi/Courier will be strong on *** and the Blues
would clinch the tie over there by a whisker.

How can it be a tie? There is be 25 matches on each surface and 25 is a odd number.

Thats just too much. Borg will beat every guy on the Red team handsomely on clay.

At peak, maybe.  Remember, Borg's best came a decade before most of the Red
team.  Times and playing styles changed markedly over that period.  My guess
is that Borg would be overawed by the big hitting, regardless of surface.

No way.

Borg > Lendl
Wilander = Federer
Connors > McEnroe
Courier >> Edberg (Becker)
Agassi >> Sampras.

Hmm... yes, correct.
OK, let' say it's 50/50.
