10 reasons why Sampras should NOT retire

my reasons..

1. even at 75 or 50 % he's still better than most of the top 20

2. if he does retire it means there's no one else left worth rooting
against, or for in some ocassions

3. It will also mean less classic matches , esp Agassi v Sampras ones

4. Agassi might miss the chance of having that sort of competition and
lose motivation

5. I never get bored watching him get beat ( Sampras )

6. He is the last thing we have to serve and volleyer on the tour and
defintely the last all rounder, federer is just punk

7. It means we all get get chance to see how far he can go on clay ,
one of the last great wonders left to wonder about in tennis thanks to
goran and jen

8. I'll miss those running forehands and slam dunks

9. There is no one , no true champion , worth of him passing the torch
onto , Agassi is too old, Rafters gone and the rest suck

10. Agassi might get e***d and win another 7 slams

The problem with this is that Sampras rarely plays at his best. He did
not need to in the past. If his best now is 50% of his best 5 years ago,
then playing at 50% level of that and that means at 25% of his best 5
years ago. At that level, he would lose to someone ranked below 100.

Everyone knows that Pete needs to work harder and not glide on ability which
is something he's been prone to do in the past.

12. he is one of the last players to use natural gut, who else breaks 5 or 6
sets of string a match!

13. No other player has such bad stamina and cramps and suffers so quickly
and frequently as he does, which makes those classis matches even more
classic

My impression is that most if not all the pros use natural gut. The
difference is Sampras uses an ultrathin gut and strings it indredibly
tight.

This is not true. At least 80% of the tour uses natural gut. The
reason that Sampras breaks his string so often is the tension -
something like 85 lbs on a racquet which was a 50-60 lbs range.
