Sistas win 'Serena slam' in doubles

12 slams overall.

If they can win a calendar slam they would have legit claims to best
ever doubles team.  Still be behind MN/Shriver (also won calendar slam),
but in the conversation.

Probably need 2 calendar slams to seal it.  Given the shithouse quality
of doubles these days I reckon they have a shot at winning next 6 &
wrapping it up with b2b calendar slams.

Navratilova/Shriver won two consecutive doubles Slams and 109 consecutive
matches. But yes, it does seem like currently it's all about how much Wx2
want to play.

Hingis-Kournikova were the better doubles team. They didn't give a
shit about doubles though.

Sistas are already the best ever, but need to win the CYGS plus a few
more to challenge MN/Shriver for greatest ever.

the Sistas have only played 19 of the 46 slam doubles events since 1999.
Had they played as frequently as Shriver/MN they'd surely have more
doubles slam titles by now.

How can they be best ever if you also state that the quality of
doubles these days is "shithouse"?

the sistas get cut slack for everything. if only they "wanted to win"
or "were healthy" or "cared about tennis this month" they would have
won.   and all that. b.s.

it's not any of that - they simply didn't play 27 of the past 46 slam
doubles events.

yes, and i'm sure they would've won a few of those had they played -
unless they didn't play for reasons of unmotivated, out of form, etc.

We can figure they'd have won about 13 of those events - that's a lower
rate than the 12/19 they have won - giving them about 25 doubles titles.

You may bet against them at Wimbledon, but i won't.
