Gul viper wetsuits, any good

Gul viper wetsuits, any good

It's come to that time again when the wind isn't blowing so I start
looking at buying.
I have decided on changing my wetsuit (5/4/3 mm) since it doesn't fit
too well anymore. Browsed thru a couple of mags (UK) and spotted the Gul
Viper winter suit,
which is dedicated for windsurfing. The price is around 170 UK pds, the
most I really want to pay.

Has anybody any advice on the suit. It looks alot less robust than other
Gul or Sola suits I've looked at which are some 50 quid cheaper.

I sail in the UK in the sea and stop going sailing when the temp is less
than 10 deg C.

Cheers,

Tim.

I've got that one, but it doesn't work for me. It has a vertical plastic
zip, and a 'back-up' flap inside the zip. I bought it because you can get it
on without needing help with the zip. Water gets in fairly easily.
I had a Gul Notroflex before that, with a cross-shoulder dry zip, which was
the mutt's nuts for windsurfing, but pants for surfing. I bust the zip on it
doing it up and undoing it myself. If you're windsurfing in the UK, I would
recommend a cross shoulder brass dry zip, but always get help doing it up.
The zipperless suits unfortunately seem to be too prone to damage (e.g.
Pryde) to consider.

Did it come thru the zip or up the arms which are baggy, if thru the arms I
believe you get the velcro straps to put around your wrists, were they any good.

Through the zip. Although its 5/4/3, or whatever, its pretty cold sailing in
March.
Its only lasted a year and a half, and is mostly neoprene glue now. The
Nitroflex was much better (he said, wistfully).

Tim,

I bought a Second Skin wetsuit last year down in Croyde which is fantastic &
completely toasty.  I've been out at New Year with it, (when we were
crunching through the frost on the beach!)

Also if you're a funny shape :-) , they can do a custom suit specially for
you, though these are a bit more obviously.

Good luck
