Does anyone know who was the first sailors to sail here?. I believe they
were from the Central Coast of Ca.

* I have a friend who surfed it back in the mid 70's (74,75). About 30 miles
north of Punta San Carlos is a "known" surf spot called Punta Baja. There
is a real shakey coastal road from there to San Carlos, this is how they
came upon it.

Without hesitation I can say Surfers who stumbled upon San Carlos in the 60's
and 70's who started wave sailing, remembered that "blown to shit"
point break south of Punta Baja and went to re-discover it as wave sailers.

I was having breakfast at Moma Espinosa in El Rosario back about seven or
eight years ago and I saw an entry in the "log book" there mentioning a
guy named Bo from the central coast as sailing at Carlos around 1983 or
84.....

My Friend Dave Tettleton, who now lives in Maui as psycho commercial
fisherman has photos of himself sailing his Meritex at Punta Crowded in
Sping of 1981.  That's the earliest proven record I have found but I've
heard the Dynamic Trio, Dennis, Bo, and Dean Karnazes were there as early
as 1969.

I may be catching this thread a little late, but have you heard from
anyone who has been to San Carlos recently?  I heard it was good the
first two weeks in March, but dead the last two.  It is hard to
believe the weather there is much different than here in Ventura
this time of year...I'm trying to evaluate whether to head there for
a week, or just go to wind-central in Maui.
