Neil Pryde Instruction Book?

Neil Pryde Instruction Book?

Post by <S.. » Wed, 14 Sep 1994 21:06:32

Last weekend, I picked up a couple of Neil Pryde sails at
the Windsurfing Warehouse (South San Francisco) swap meet.
The 5.5 is a 4WD, and the 5.0 is a Dynamic Cam.  Both
are convertible RAF/cam sails.

I read that Neil Pryde has an instruction book which comes
with their sails.  My question is whether the instruction
book is worthwhile pursuing, or if rigging by downhauling
for twist-off and a loose leach covers the essentials.
Your comments are appreciated, especially if they roll in
before 3:15 tomorrow afternoon, when I'll have my first
opportunity to try the (for me) new sails...

.
i have a couple dynamics and they rig just like any other raf
pretty simple just play with it alittle and you'll be fine
the 4wd however will require you to own the correct mast to
get the full potetial of the sail but i doubt you will need
a manual asside from not crossing your line on the built in
down haul pulley

probably not worth much effort.  perhaps, next time you are
in a shop that sells Pryde sails, ask to have a look at one of the
manuals...

for the 4WD, you can rig the sail and fully downhaul it before
putting the booms on.  Ideally, you should put enough downhaul
to cause the leech to become noticeably floppy (at least the
2st two battens, and if its really windy, further down).  I dont know
the other sail, but it is probably similar.
