Ronny Drysuits question

Ronny Drysuits question

Post by Will Howa » Sun, 19 Jul 1992 03:51:47

I have a Ronny "rollover" two-piece drysuit, bought new in 1985. I've often
used the bottom alone as a "longjohn" suit in warmer weather, with the result
that the bottom is trashed. The ankles and knees are all cut up and the "skirt"
that provides a seal between bottom and top has come off. The question is where
can I buy the Ronny bottom by itself? The dealer I bought it from (Europa in
Cambridge Mass.) seems to be gone. This way I could keep using the trashed
bottom as a summer suit and keep the new one pristine for drysuit use. I live
in the New York City area, though I get to New England a lot. Thanks in advance
for any insights.

I had a Ronny 2 piece that I liked but had a similar problem in that the rollover
seal came appart. I took it to ProMotion in HoodRiver and they were able to
replace just the seal. Cost ~$45.00.

If you want to buy a new bottom, you can check with Sailboard Warehouse b/c
they carry Ronny..

Ronny Drysuits are (seemingly so) more fragile than say  Bare, Gul or O'
Neil.  I seem to remember over the years,  conversations with sailors about
Ronny suits... ie. "My neck seal just tore... and I was so careful" etc.
etc. few if any conversations centered around other makes.  Over time
one has to wonder if it is possible to construct a light-feeling, stylish,
BUT durable drysuit.  In my opinion, Ronny has not been able to do this.

I'm on my second Ronny in 4 years(just bought a rollover for $180) and I would
recommend them. I sail in 60 degree water and I love not getting that cold
rush of water down my back that you tend to get with a regular wet suit.
