I never gave any thought to sharks until last years shark thread. Then
I got nervous.

Most of my sailing has been in the open ocean near Santa Barbara. I've
been ignored by dolphins, glared at by sea lions, dodged harbor seals,
and buzzed by helicopters. I've never, *never*, seen a shark.  However
I have become adept at light wind water-starts :-).

p.s. There are no sharks or sturgeon at the San Luis Resevoir Forebay,
only pond scum and weeds.

Indeed, the famous San Luis Killer Weed is an excellent example of
how vegetable life adapts to protein-poor environments by ouch!
