Same weekend and beach as the Michigan State Windsurfing Championships
(part of the Tudor/Mistral series.) Nice regatta, but if it really cranks out
of the NW, the shorebreak is wicked. Water will be about 50-52 deg. F.
Bring a steamer. Very nice sandy beach, though.
In the past, the shop that sponsors these swaps (this may be the 2nd annual,
but they have sponsored other swaps in the past) will likely take a cut of the
cash profit (10-20% ?), or give you 100% store credit for new purchases. If I
remember correctly, last year they stipulated that the swap boards and sails
could be no older than 1990. Call the phone number in the adverti***t to get
all the rules.
Worth the trip from Arkansas? I'd say only if you are already planning a trip
to New Buffalo (half hour drive from St. Joe.). It's a LONG, LONG way from
Arkansas...
