I'm looking for opinions, comments, etc on a 1997 Seatrend Radical Wave
8'5" board.  The expected venue for this board would mostly be the
Oregon/California coast for side-shore wave sailing with the Gorge as a
backup location.  I weigh about 160 lbs.

One downside to the board is its weight -- the actual board that I'm
considering is about 18 pounds -- a little more than I would like.

How loose is the board in bottom and top turns?  Easy to bounce out on
wave faces?  Durability?

Never tried the Seatrend.  If weight is a concern try a JP 255 or Naish Pro
8'5".  I believe they weigh less than 14 - 15 lbs. and are getting
incredible reviews.  Check the respective internet sites.

Weight tends to mean strength unless you are looking in the $1700 rang of
customs
