Kalmus 12/12:Uncrowded & Windy!

Howdy,
The word 'cold' is a relative term and Sat 12/12 must have qualified as cold
to most of the sailors who call Kalmus home. There were two semi-sane souls who
took advantage of steady southwesterlies in the 18 to 24 range(estimated/Greg's
meter not in place)in spite of air temps in the lower 40s and mostly cloudy
skies. These wind speeds were more than adequate for me using Paul F.'s 5.5 V8
& my  Axxis 255. I was not cold at all wearing a dry suit,hood,open-palm gloves
and heavy booties with polypropolene sox.Fortunately I did not miss any jibes
and avoided total immersion. This much garb is much more than I have been
accustommed to wearing since I sailed  Galveston Bay in a shorty last wknd and
sailed in a bathing suit and lycra shirt the over Turkey Day wknd at Padre
Island. My time in Texas is limitted to one last(potential sailing) wknd so I
felt compelled to take advantage of the Kalmus blow regardless of the mercury
readings.
For those Kalmus sailors who agonized over going out yesterday this is
meant to let you know that a good time could be had with a little effort, not
much pain and some help from a friend.( Thanks again Paul F.)

Paul (Howdy)?, Boy you have been spending to much time in Texas. I drove by
around 4:00 PM, didn't see anybody out there. It was still blowing 20+.

Should have been at Buckroe or Chick's today. By the way, thanks again for the
wind. Sorry the warm air we sent ya never showed up. I never could find the
tracking number either.

We sailed here Wednesday on 5.2's and again today. It was cold so we had to
wear hoods so our little ears didn't get cold in the 56 degree water. We don't
always get thet best winds but with mild winters here one can sail all year
long in a 4/3 steamer with about half the days wearing gloves.
