How to repair board seam split?

Post by David Jone » Wed, 01 Apr 1998 04:00:00

I have a Bic 282 with a seam split in the nose developing.  I can
see through to the foam.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to
repairs?  Does epoxy sealant work? Should I take it to a
professional?

Thanks - Mike

Mike - uh, David?
a split in the nose is usually due to a catapult type impact, and not normally
stressed when sailing, so a simple glue-job will do ya:
prop the board up with seam facing up, clean it out with a hacksaw blade, tape
off all around, and run a slow Epoxy into it. If the seam hasn't opened too
wide, just leave to harden right there. If it's more than, say, a six***th,
squoosh it together with C-clamps, or *** bands, whathaveyou.
