Best windsurfing in the Midwest?

Where are the best places to windsurf in the midwestern U.S.?  I am
thinking of moving there, preferably not too far from Indianapolis
or Louisville, but I don't want to give up the sport (just bought my
first shortboard this year).

In addition to the amount of wind, I'd like to hear about things like
water quality, beach access, currents, living conditions/expenses in
the area, whatever.  Hey, this is a big decision!

This is no claim on the best, but how it is in Milwaukee-Madison for your
info.  Nice areas, liberal tradition, Madison-Univ. town, Milwaukee -medium
sized pleasant town.
Madison- 2 shops, 2 big lakes, more sailable on W. winds than Milwaukee,
water sometimes scummy late summer.
Milwaukee- L. Michigan sailable in all directions except W-NW (you then go
1:15 to Madison or to L. Winnebago-huge lake), but the big lake is more fun
than any little pond, with awesome NE that are unfortunately rare.  Unlike
Chicago, you can launch from downtown beaches in 2 spots.  One shop, not too
well stocked, but orders things for you with really good deals.
This ex-SF Bay sailor has learned to accomodate to sailing here.(I only sail
"shortboard," as do many others here, 6.7-3.8)

Hi to D. Mark and to Ted -
Wind on Northern Lake MIchigan is wonderful, especially in Sept.  I sail
in a littel burg in the northern portion, Escanaba.  Water is very clean
74 degrees now.  Sailing is great in air from any point except West.  SW
is wonderful - great waves.  North is great - no waves.  Driving here from
IND would be far but may be worth a few day vacation especially in Sept
when winds are fairly reliable.
