Margarita in March should be pretty windy, Ill be there as well (1st
week of March, Isla Coche Paradise Hotel). The German Surf Mag is doing
its 2nd Jibe City week there, with approx. 50 Surfers, Film Cameras and
some "big shots" like Rush Randle etc.
The best food you can get in El Yacque youll get from Atti (everybody
knows him, just ask). Recommandation: Seafood Pasta, unforgettable...
On a day with very strong winds you should try coche (20 minutes boat
trip or 15 minutes with your board, half wind with less wind in the
center of the channel between Margarita and Coche, dont cross alone!!).
Coche is a bit more like Paradise...

Just returned from Margarita last night, after 5 weeks of sailing in
paradise.  You are in luck!!  The best food in El Yaque is at the new
restaurant at the BIC center, Sotovento.  They have wonderful Margariteno
food - things like fresh seafood and lomito.  It is run by a very nice
Venezuelan family, Dad cooks and the 3 sons and their wives run the bar
and restaurant.  Other places to try - Hotel ATTi - wonderful
chateaubriand and seafood.  Go early and enjoy the view of the sunset.
You may have to make reservations, it was packed during the holidays.
Mare Mare is great for pasta and seafood.  Also, Italian nite at Hotel
California is a bargain.  And the regular menu at the hotel is very good.
I think they have the best filet in town (tendrloin Madagascar)  Enjoy
your stay in Margarita, I think you will love it.  Miquel at the BIC
center is quite a character, and no one does better lay down jibes!!
While we were there they rigged all of their new 97 Neil Pryde sails and
97 BIC boards- the equipment is first rate!!  And as far as hotels go,
Hotel California is the nicest in town.
