Somebody was asking about the swapmeet in St. Joseph MI advertised in
Windurfing in May. I noticed the ad too. I had to drive to Notre Dame for
grad so I stuffed my rig sails and gear in the car thinking I'd rent a
board from those folks at Outpost Windsports if there was any wind. *Wrong*
figuring. I was right about the wind, but they had only beginner boards to
rent. So I learned my lesson: when in doubt call ahead. Fortuneately the
folks there are humane, and let me demo a board, which allowed me, a city
lake sailor to experience first hand the awesome power of big lake waves
crashing over my head. Well worth it. Even made the evening news, babbling
on camera about strong wind and ***ion...
Anyway the swap is right on the beach in a big tent so you can try out
boards right there. By the sounds of it, they have a pretty huge turnout.
Plus the Nevin Sayre clinic. I'm not about to drive down for the swap
myself, I spent all my money at the Warehouse swap 2 weeks ago here in
Minnesota.
