wave spots on the OREGON coast

Post by Roger Nightingal » Wed, 17 Jul 1996 04:00:00

I'll be in Oregon in a week (8/25) and would love a list of good wave
sailing launches. The only ones I know of so far are Pistol River,
Florence, and Newport. I'm interested in the consistency of the wind,
and the quality of wave riding (I hear Pistol is great for the former,
but marginal for the latter). Thanks in advance.

On The Contrary.  The Gorge has been shut down for most of July, while the
coast, especially the central coast, has been going off.  Even the North Coast
has had it's fair share.  I had a great 5.2 session last weekend at the South
Jetty in Astoria.  Florance and Pistol have both been solid all month.  See
you at the beach.

wave spots on the OREGON coast

Hi Shedhappy, just a clarification: Pistol River's season has pretty much
been the best for years: 64-some-odd days so far. Though it has shutdown
with this major heat inland; fog.

hasta, clay/wind tracks, where we may actually get some work down now that
the wind's tapered temporarily.
