Crissy? So long Coast Guard Station!

Crissy? So long Coast Guard Station!

 Hello out in ***space,

I was about to sail at what was the Coast Guard Station north of Crissy. A
Ranger informed me that this once pristine sailing area is now off limits!
It is a now a "bird sanctuary". I tried to tell the ranger that people have
been sailing out of this spot before Crissy was popular well over 20 years
ago! NO luck. This once the most ripping spot to launch is now gone the way
of the dodo bird. I guess rigging, launching and returning are too stressful
for the birds. I guess the proximity of the bbq pits and throngs of party
goers in the parking lot will ease them.
I think all the changes to Crissy detract from its once barren and urban
feel. Now it looks like an eroded beach with a smelly fish pond.
Personally I am going to rig by the warehouses and sail there anyway.

this is a bad course of events. You should contact the SFBA (sfba.org) and let
them know of this. They have been active in the Crissy stuff.

I agree with you. I liked the old Crissy. It still was beautiful, but more
rugged, and much less crowded with joggers, dog walkers, Marina green types.

Isn't it strange how "improvements" almost always make a place less
desirable?
Undeveloped open space is becoming an extremely rare commodity...
Seems like people (and bureacracies) with money to burn, just can't sit
still and leave people, places, or things alone...
