News Servers (Off topic - sorry)

I'm quite please with Supernews. I used to have an Airnews account at
the same time and they had poor retention in some groups.

Sorry to be so off topic, but some one recommended a couple of good news
servers a while back.  I'm using the one from my ISP; and typically if I
post six posts, I only see one of them.  I know they're on the NG, 'cos
people reply.  I am always wondering how many other peoples missives missing
out on.  I enjoy this NG, but this is too frustrating!  Or is this the norm?

How far back does supernews retain this NG?  I am using Earthlink's but it has
been extremely slow lately, and frequently down.  Anybody else notice that
(Mike?).  I might switch to supernews.

Dare I ask for a free server recommendation?  Or is it a case of getting
what you pay for?  I just looked at the Supernews sign up page, and
considered it rather expensive.

And I un-checked the 300 header box........try anything!

Try news.cis.dfn.de by registering at www.cis.dfn.de

or news.mailops.com by registering at www.mailops.com

Both are free news servers

Well here I am using the .cis.dfn.de as recommended.  I've found all my
missing posts!  The 19 th had 86 posts, and there are 3026 on the server
instead of the 400 (ish) which I could see using my old server.  I'll tip my
hat to you Sir.
