Anyone who uses Oneil freak sneaks:
Got a question for ya.

Lately mine have been rubbing my achilles tendon raw.  Does that happen
to you as well ?  The same thing is happening to my friend.  I had a
pair last year and it didn't happen.

Just wondering.

I boought a pair last year and have been having the chaffing problems with them
too.
My achilles tendon was raw in just one session. I tried loosing the bungee but
it gets worse if sand gets it the bootie.  I think that sticking a neopreene
pad inside the heel part of the bootie over the seam may fix the problem, but
it still is $40 down the drain for something that was not designed right.

I will never forget to search  for 2 seams on either side of the heel when
buying booties again. Another problem has been the seam where the toe split is.
The flatlock stiching gets  really abrasive.

I think the best split toe booties I have used are the ones by rip curl.

I pulled the elastic cord out from the top of the shoe and it works fine.
No achilles problems other than from my running on hard surfaces.
