Howdy.  I'm on a biz trip to Jacksonville Florida next week.  Would like
to windsurf 4-6 pm.  Will there be any wind?  Are there any rental shops?
Where are the launch points?

Thx in Advance

Sonic: Jax is very frontal so there maybe wind, maybe not.
As for rentals I think you might be out of luck. The only
shop I know of (Aqua East) didn't have any Hi Perf WS equip.
when I was there last summer. Might want to take you own
with you.
As for launch sites I like Hugonet Park the best. It's at
the mouth of the St. John's (take Heckesher east all the
way). Caught one nite of great 6.0 fla***er rippin' on my
last trip plus one nite of 6.0 small waves on the ocean side
of the park.
The folks at JAWS (Jax Area Windsurf Society) are usually at
the park and they are really neat folks.  I hope one of them
will also respond so you can get the latest scoop.
If it blows, a little further up the St. John's at the
junction with the intracoastal is the hot spot as the wind
and current often go in opposite directions so the B&J can
be semi gorge like.
Have a good trip.

> Mike in SD Hi Mike, from another Mike in JAX!  Welcome to town from me and

JAWS(Jacksonville Associated Windsurfers)!
If the inland is hot we can get some good seabreezes in the
afternoon or if there is a front coming through.
We no longer have a shop in town.  The nearest rental would be
Sandy Point Progressive Sports of South Daytona Beach- about 1.5hr away.
For the 'the right price':-} I could put in a good word for you with
another Mike (is there a theme here?!) who is often out in the weekday
afternoon at Hugenot Park.  He might be willing to let you ride some of
his stuff.  Hugenot is the most popular sailing spot and is on the ocean
about 1.3 mi east of the ferry boat crossing off Hecsher Drive, north of
Mayport.
If you're going to be here on the 4th of May join us at Hugenot
Park for our 3rd annual Jimmy Buffett/Florida Keys Day (any excuse for a
party works w/ JAWS!).
Feel free to e-mail me for more info (lately my e-mail hasn't
been consistantly working, but I think it may be fixed).
