I'm thinking of buing a Falcon 72 Race. Does anyone has experience with this
board in combination with a 9.3 & a 7.5 m2 sail. I would like to know some
more sailingdetails and want to compaire it to other boards (like F2 thommen
race)

I Owned this board and raced it quite successfully
First had the Fanatic Falcon 9ft (68cm wide) as well, and when I***sailed
with the Fanatic 72 it felt sluggish and sticky and I thought it was slow.
The 9ft seemed to rip and therefore I liked sailing it more.
What I later learned was to ignore the sensation (perception), and focus on
the reality, and here it is........
the 9ft with flat-to-V bottom felt faster, it was looser, and the sensation
was very lively, went like a bat out of hell on a reach, and off the wind
when powered up , but never made it to the weathermark 1st.
the 72 with its concave-to-V felt sluggish and sticky, and the sensation was
slow. However in head to head it would ALWAYS get to the weathermark ahead
of the 9ft, on a reach it was a little more difficult to keep the board down
on the water when powered up, and running off the wind the wider tail would
allow it to sail much deeper than the 9ft.
EVERYTIME it would prove faster around the race course. Now that's not to
say that I enjoyed sailing it more - the 9ft was WAY MORE FUN TO SAIL, but
the 72 was more effective.
On the other hand if I sailed regularly in higher winds using the 6.6-7.8
sails I would stick with the 9ft - but sailing in lighter winds 8.3 - 9.9
the 72 is more effective.
Note that fanatic had real problems with the old North Shore Maui Fins
supplied - they all used to break off at the base - they reluctantly
admitted they had a problem and I eventually received replacement fins - In
the end I used Tectonic 48, 52 and 56 cm deep box fins. I used the AVS type
tail only on really choppy days, and it did seem to help to control the
cavitation.
One final thought - the rail shape under the back feet takes some getting
used to when sailing for long periods of time - my feet ached - maybe my
arches are strange - who knows
Anyway, hope this helped
