Duxbury Bay Maritime School
Kids Learn to Windsurf Day - Help Wanted!
August 19, 2000
The Duxbury Bay Maritime School is hosting a free kids learn to windsurf day on
Duxbury Beach, Saturday August 19th from 1:00 - 5:00 pm. The Duxbury Bay
Maritime School, entering just its third season, has become a nationally
recognized leader in teaching kids to sail, and also linking the residents of
the surrounding communities to Duxbury Bay via education and marine recreation,
and other activities. In the past two years, more than 1,000 kids have learned
to sail through programs offered by the Duxbury Bay Maritime School. The August
19th event is designed to introduce kids to windsurfing, and first and foremost
our goal is for the kids who participate to have fun.
The DBMS Kids Learn to Windsurf event is going to be closely modeled on the
super successful first ever Kids Windsurfing Camp organized by Nevin Sayre and
held in West Dennis, Massachusetts on July 10-11, 1999. Mistral/North Sports
through Can Am Sailcraft has generously agreed to provide 25 - 30 Windglider
brand new complete rigs for our event in Duxbury.
We need volunteers, particularly instructors one per board, who are
windsurfers/sailors, but most importantly, are enthusiastic about spending
several hours in the water helping kids have fun. In addition, we would like
to line up some prizes, give-aways, and a raffle for participants, so any help
with these items would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and looking forward to seeing you on the 19th.
