Anybody want forward loop .avi clip?

Post by Barron K Merte » Fri, 12 Nov 1993 11:20:33

I just got my hands on a video for windows (avi file) clip of someone
doing a very pretty forward loop.  Is anybody interested in this clip or
has everyone seen it before I even started following this group (only one
month ago).  The clip is quite large, just a hair over 1 Meg, if people
want it sent using Pine/MIME let me know that would be easy, sent
UUencoded through Pegasus mail would also be easy, posting it here in
little itty bits (no pun intended) would be feasible but being a naturally
lazy person I would prefer to not go through the hassle.  It would also be
available from our Ontario boardsailing ftp site (hope Todd doesn't mind)
which is at flex.eng.mcmaster.ca  look in pub/onwind/video or if you
remind me to leave my system running a ftp-server at 131.104.232.54 in ftp/gif
My apologies to anyone not able to use the avi clip in its present form, I
am trying to get somemore info out of Todd and see if we can get somemore
clips.  Anybody out there know how to convert avi into fli or flc or cmv
so I can use it in my slide show presentations?

If this is what I think it is, then there is an mpeg format version on
the rec.windsurfing archive server at lemming.uvm.edu (132.198.103.200).

It's called wind.mpg in directory rec.windsurfing/pictures.

Bingo!!  You are right it is the same!  Could people please not flood the
site I mentioned, it was not really set up to act as an international
boardhead download site (hmm is lemming?)  I will try right after I post
this to upload the avi version to the rec.windsurfing achive at
lemming.uvm.edu where it belongs (guess it will be in the /incoming until
the powers that be decide where and if it gets a permanent home)  If anybody
has some more boardsailing clips available I would be extremely grateful!!!
To anybody that was ftping from my system this morning and had problems I
apolgize, it doesn't take one long to realize that Windows 3.1 is not
really meant to do the job of a Unix ftp server although it will humbly
try anyways.  If there is anyone who does not have ftp access I would be
happy to email it to you.

This clip is the one video clip that comes on the disk with Video
for Windows. Since you need video for windows to view the clip and
since it comes with VfW then most people won't really need to download -
those who don't have the clip don't have the player, those with the
player have the clip.

VfW also comes with a CD rom with lots of clips, including another
windsurf clip taken from one of (can't remember the title) the
popular windsurf videos from a couple of years ago.

Someone out there have this other clip?  Most people I know only have the
run-time player for avi, do not know anybody who actually has video for
windows.  If someone could upload it to the rec.windsurfing archive that
would be great so that everyone has access to it.
