Baja trip'en on T-week.

Hey fellow West Coast Windsurfers,

The winds here in the Bay area are slowing down (although yesterday was
a cranker - 20-30mph from the NE :+) ) and it's time to start planning for a
windsurf trip south to Baja. The first great holiday weekend of opportunity
is coming on us quickly ... Thanksgiving. I plan visit San Felipe and Ensenada
on my short Baja windsurfing trip. Anybody windsurfed San Felipe on
T-day before
??? At any time of year ?? Best spots to windsurf? I was there about 7 years
ago in my "before-windsurfer" days and there were a few people out windsurfing
that day.
I also plan to windsurf the west coast of Baja (Ensenada area and north).
Has anybody winsurfed the popular surf spot north of Ensenada - San
Miguel? I've
done a far amount of traveling in Baja (Cabo 'n back) in the winter and a far
amount of windsurfing (Maui, OZ, Baja) so I feel very comfortable doing both
anywhere. Anybody heading south to Baja for T-day holiday??

Cheap beer and food, lots of wind and sun - Baja here I come !!! Michael

P.S. - Sorry mom ... can't make T-day this year.

                SI SENOR BERGER !!

I'm unable to get away this winter due to work commitments (something's
wrong with my priorities) but I'm planning a 6-8 week trip next
winter. I'll probably head out mid-december and get back in Feb. I lived
one winter down there about 3 years ago .. what a blast.

T-weekend in San Felipe should be fun. A fairly large group of
old windsurfer "one-designers" still head down there every thanksgiving.
I don't think they bring the big boards anymore, but last time I joined
em was several years ago. Bring lotsa firewood, there isn't any scrub
left to burn.  The party'ing /sailing is ok .. sometimes you get lucky
and get cranking winds .. more likely is 12-18 knots in the early
afternoon with glass in the morning and evening.  Have fun.

I have sailed in San Felipe at Christmas several times.  There is wind almost
every day but there is only about 1 or 2 days a week where you can use a
short board if you are lucky.  The wind picks up as you go South so if you
are looking for higher wind, plan on more travel time.

When the tide is low it is a long way to the water.  The wind shuts off very
quickly near sundown.  Watch out for American's with Huge bottle rockets.
They like to shoot them at people.  If you take mororcycles or 3 wheelers
keep them chained down GOOD.  I lost two motorcycles out of my camp and they
were stolen by Americans to use for gas money.  They bring them back to the
states and strip them for parts.

Baja is one of my favorite places to visit but you need to know the rules of
the road and folow them.
