Gul Wetsuits : Can anyone recommend their steamers?

Post by Stuart Foste » Sun, 20 Sep 1998 04:00:00

Hi All,

I'm looking to buy a quality steamer to get me through the freezing British
winter...
does anyone own a Gul Extreme, Viper Flex, or Nitro Flex, or can you
recommend something similar?

I'd particularly like any comments about the Zipperless versions of the
Extreme; ie are they comfortable, warm (or even too hot?), and how
restrictive are they???

Also, would anyone recommend a different brand? Particularly ones available
in the UK.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks.

Recommendation from an ex Gul user, Neil Pryde suits are way better, you
want the best in zipperless go with the eclipse, probably the most
comfortable suit on the market.

Counterpoint:

Can you give us specifics on your problems with Gul? I own Guls - a
dry suit and spring suit. They are expensive, but I feel they are
worth it. My 5/4/3 dry suit is going into its 9th season and is
finally in need of replacement. IMHO, Gul makes the highest quality
suits on the market (with the possible exception of Pro Motion).

I would not recommend one...After one season mine is riddled with  partial
thickness cuts from touching my fin during waterstarts.  Albeit soft and
buttery in feel, I am expecting catastophic rip any time soon.

I've had to trade in my old GUL because the flashy neon colors when
out of style, the suit was still in good condition. I got another GUl.
