Punta San Carlos road conditions

A group of us is heading to San Carlos over Memorial Day and we were
wondering if anyone's used the road lately. Did the rains wash it out
completely or is it at all passable in a non-4-Wheel Drive, regular
clearance vehicle (something tells me this is wishful thinking!).

I drove the road March 26th.  The wind was good with great swell (mast
high off the point) just before and after that storm.

The road is not washed out, but is a lot rougher than last year.  I think
you COULD get a normal vehicle if you drove REAL slow (3+ hours) and not
loaded down too much.  The worst is just before the camp sites.
Personally I like to blaze.  One hour and thirty minutes one way is
plenty for me.  What kind of vehicle are we talking?  What is regular
clearance?

Craig:

I'm in a Toyota 4-Wheel drive truck. Other cars are mostly Pathfinders,
Explorers, the usual 4-wheel drive Baja wind-mobiles. The one we were
worried about is a Ford Taurus station wagon and a non-converted van. What
do you think? Hope we get the same wind and conditions you did! Sounds
like you blaze a little faster on that road than I would ever consider! By
the way, was Vela there when you were? If so, did it***up the
ambiance?
