Ding in planing surface

Ding in planing surface

My Mistral Shift has mysteriously developed a small (1cm or so) ding right
in the midst of planing surface, somewhere between front & back straps. I
sealed it with epoxy while trying to keep the surface as level as possible
but of course it's not as smooth as surrounding area. Is it critical to get
it sanded down so it's as smooth as possible?

Are you kidding? You should see my gear.  :)

In all sincerity I wouldn't worry unless you just like doing repairs after
every session.

So I thought. I'm not really the repair type of guy... still wondering where
that ding came from?
