There is a terrific place called Hecksure(probably the wrong
spelling) State park which you can get to by driving south on the
Sagtikos Parkway (apprx. exit54 on the Long Island Expressway). You
go about 3 or four miles and there are signs for the Park which is
slightly east of wwhere the Parkway leaves you off. There is a
parking fee, but it is well worth it when there is a good southerly
breeze.

Another quality place is in an unlikely spot. It is in the Flatlands
in Brooklyn right of the Belt Parkway. Travelling east on the Belt
from Coney Island before you get to Kennedy Airport, there is a tiny
littly beach area with a little old beach building and a parking lot.
There are no signs, but if you go down there during a good breeze,
all the locals are out wave jumping within 150 yards of the Belt
Parkway!

have fun,
Jack

JEFF, are there any restrictions on getting into this beach? Also, how is the
shore break?
