I'm curious, what is the board brand and model? If you do opt for a new
board, wonder where the damaged board would go. Regarding repair versus
getting a new one -- a crack and ding may be pretty minor for a self
repair -- may seem really worthwhile relative to the check the shipper may
be willing to write. Getting a quote for a professional repair, including
shipping both ways would help determine a reasonable settlement. I know
having a dinged new board with a less than invisible repair kind of hurts,
but the shipper may pay you enough to get used to it real quickly. Besides,
the second ding shouldn't bother you as much.
