Coast Guard rescues W. Triggs; vigil ends....

San Fran sailor, racer, and author Will Triggs was rescued by the Coast
Guard last night (6/21).  Approximately 20 of Will's friends and his
trusty canine companion, Buddy, ended their twilight vigil on the beach at
Crissy field.  The heroism of the Coast Guard rescuers ended Triggs'
harrowing experience on the bay.  Winds gusting to 3-4 knots combined with
a swift flood tide of 2 knots led to Will's "adventure."  After his return
to shore, Will's friend celebrated his return to safety by having an
impromtu summer solstice barbarque at the beach.  Will said that he would
"have a little more respect" for Crissy in the future.  Will is
recuperating at home.

This is indicative of the *** that is being propagated on the Internet
and that we have all been reading about in the papers! It is a dirty,
low-down lie and I won't stand for it. What actually happened was that I
was giving the Coast Guard crew a demonstration on how to uphaul a
shortboard in the very tricky conditions mentioned above. It required a
great deal of experience and skill. The Coasties were so impressed and
grateful, they insisted on giving me a ride to shore afterwards. So it
wasn't a rescue--it just LOOKED like a rescue.

I don't know who this J. Bunch character is, but I bet he's just some
disgruntled windsurfer that didn't get invited to my barbeque so he did a
little roasting on his own. Try it again, pal, and I'll have my "trusty
canine companion" walk on your sails!
Will Triggs (San Francisco)

Hey, I think we have some good competition, Keith.
