To loop or not to loop

Post by koens.. » Sun, 11 Feb 2001 17:00:55

Hello ,

I am windsurfing  for about 18 years and still love it , actually I am
a ***. Last year I started also kitesurfing for low wind reasons.
I an an advanced intermediate windsurfer and dreaming several years to
try the thing that makes the differance between the good windsurfer and
the rest of the world . I am talking about "THE LOOP" . I promissed
myself at newyears evening that 2001 will be my loopyear (unfortuanally
I did this also at 2000 and 1999 but without succes).

I would like to get tips , advice from people who are looping already
or who are planning to try it. What are your experiences , how does it
feel , what should I take care for , is it realy fun , how can I pump
me up mentaly .....

Because of the cold weather overhere ,it will take some time to get
this in practice but with your information I can prepare me mentaly.

Good winds to everybody (preferably on weekends)

Hello Koen,

Have a look at www.k48.com the web site of British windsurfer Chris
Calthorpe, scroll down the main page tp find the link 'Learn to
Forward' this takes you to a page with instructions and a video
sequence.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on, I would like to try and
learn myself.

To loop or not to loop

Aloha

Hetgeen mij afschrikt is materiaalbreuk.

mogelijk! GA SURFEN MAN!
morgen zondag voorspellen ze 5 Bft met rukwinden tot 7 Bft. Bron:

Don't kid yourself dude, there is allot of very ordinary windsurfers that
can do a loop successfully, its just another manouver that needs practice.

This site wants you to mail him $16 US to access it. Have any of you done this?
If so, is it worth it?

To loop or not to loop

Dear wannabe looper,
all windsurfers know the feeling to loop or not to. I myself did battle with
the loop for four years before I got the courage and conditions to loop.
When you finally get one it will be the best thing you have ever done in
windsurfing. I suggest that you come to Maui for at least one month to learn
the loop, you get good conditions almost everyday in summer, I will teach
you how to loop at my windsurf school www.actionsportsmaui.com , the lesson
is half technique and half "Sports Psychology.
PS. after taking me 4 years to learn the loop windsurfing, it only took me 4
minutes to learn how to do it on my kiteboard.
Happy Looping and good luck.

To loop or not to loop

i second that.  i'm a former student of david's.
my only goal when i signed up for his lesson was
just to do a loop *attempt*.  within an hour,
after some sport psychology, and "dry" runs of
doing the motions but with feet out of the straps,
i was able to get around 3/4 way around!
i have since been able to land on the board.
however, still need to work on how to sail away from one...

if you get the chance go for it.
david's great! or you can sign up from a couple
of folks who do loop lessons there..
