BORA --- Croatian name BURA (B00-rah) is North-eastern wind that blows
over the whole Adriatic, it is not winter nor offshore wind. It blows from
the
land to the sea, and if you get cought on your board you can be in Italy in
less than a day. Summer BURA is known to be a problem for sailors and
tourists, winter BURA is a problem for local people. It can lift roofs and
overturn buses with gusts over 200 KM/H (~120 MPH). Offshore bura is not
as bad as one close to the shore line because wind gets funneled down
and amplified through canyons. It is great for windsurfing :>, wind speed
and direction can change by 100% (from MAXSPEED to 0) in a second,
which is fun (to watch:).
